Strata-G is seeking an experienced Information Research Specialist.

  • A BS degree, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) certification, and knowledge/experience equivalent to the certified records manager (CRM)
  • At least 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement.
  • DOE Q Clearance preferred

Scope of work:

Lead special historical or technical information research projects from a wide variety of collections, internal and external, to meet complex information needs of Laboratory staff and external customers. Leads projects to assess Information Research programs. Initiates and leads new information or historical research projects. Performs self-initiated or institutionally driven high-impact, complex information research or original, high-value historical research. Mentors Information Research Specialists and provides expertise to Laboratory programs as needed. Delivers written analyses and research results, often through professional presentations or papers, to internal and external audiences. Publishes original papers in technical reports, professional journals or in monographs. Synthesizes concepts and provides complex technical information or historical interpretation to Laboratory programs, projects or events. Demonstrates leadership through metrics to meet organizational objectives. Leads high-impact process improvements.
A senior, lead, advanced professional with externally recognized subject matter expertise in technical information or historical research including extensive knowledge of other related fields. Resolves Laboratory or Department of Energy (DOE)-wide complex issues in creative ways. This job is the senior career professional historian or information research specialist. Has broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories. Viewed as expert in field within the Laboratory. Works on unusually significant, unique or complex issues, provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Has impact on success of future concepts, products or technologies. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Assignments are often self-initiated. Virtually self-supervisory. Uses independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives. Uses wide latitude in the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
