Strata-G is seeking an experienced Waste Management Specialist II with the following:

Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the implementation of the waste management program and requirements as imposed
by the DOE and other federal, state, or local regulatory agencies. Generally, providing assistance in waste
generator services (WGS), waste shipping, and waste characterization in accordance with company procedures
and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Maintain a safe and healthful work. environment: by following established safe work practices and procedures; investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or. situations.
2. Adhere to standards contained in the Company “Code of Conduct,” Company EEO practices and DOE directives.
3. Assist others in developing; implementing; and maintaining regulatory. and DOE compliance submittals, and inspection procedures and programs designed to minimize deficiencies and ensure compliance with existing federal, state, and local laws, regulations, licenses, permits, and ordinances pertaining to the health, safety, and environment control at client facilities.
4. Advance the Waste Planning & Disposition (WPD) team by applying regulatory, DOE compliance and technical expertise and knowledge.
5. Assist waste generators with the proper packaging and waste documentation required to ensure regulatory and disposal facility waste acceptance criteria (WAC) compliance.
6. Assist the Waste Shippers with Characterization Engineers development of waste shipping papers, waste profiling, data entry into EWITs and RadMan software programs, and developing scopes of work for transportation, treatment, and disposal contracts as necessary.
7. Revise shipping and LAG procedures as needed.
8. Assume the manage of High-Level Waste program and canister/cask storage pad.
9. Remain current on specific requirements imposed by government agencies by reading statutes, regulations, licenses, and permits.
10. Maintain a working knowledge of the scientific and technical aspects of various regulatory requirements and how they may impact programs and facility modifications by studying regulatory guidance documents and industry publications and by. interfacing with personnel at other DOE facilities.
11. Assist in the maintenance of records and documentation by conforming to established department and Company policies and procedures for records management; support data retention capability initiatives to meet required needs.
12. Regular attendance is required.
13. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
14. Provide (WGS) field oversight backup as needed for first and second shift MPPB demolition.

Requirements:

BA/BS in Engineering, Natural Sciences, or related environmental science field and four (4) years of experience
or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Additional Requirements:

1. Must possess a broad knowledge of environmental theories, principles, techniques, policies, regulations, and legal requirements to successfully complete difficult assignments.

2. Must be able to work under general supervision exercising reasonable judgment in determining objectives of assignments according to established procedures.

3. Must be able to perform tasks which are usually from detailed instructions and established procedures. Must be able to use own judgment in locating, selecting, and applying most appropriate environmental guidelines, references, and procedures.

4. Must be able to assist in providing technical direction and guidance to department and company engineers, operators, and other personnel on regulatory matters relating to environmental compliance issues or concerns.

5. Assists in negotiations with other department engineers and regulators to establish appropriate levels of environmental compliance and reporting.

6. Must be able to read, understand, and apply EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations and DOE orders. Must possess advanced knowledge of industry specific software applications.

7. Must execute a broad scope of specific environmental and waste management practices affecting the accuracy, reliability, or acceptability of further processes or services.

8. Must be able to (Company-wide) assist in providing regulatory, DOE compliance, and technical guidance and direction for determining a course or courses of action to implement or maintain conformance with regulatory/compliance strategies, involving the interpretation and/or solving of basic regulatory issues.

9. Must be able to maintain conformance with regulatory/compliance strategies by interpreting and/or solving basic regulatory issues and communicating with personnel at more senior levels.

10. Must be able to interface with employees in the department, division, and organization. Must be able to plan, coordinate, or advise on work efforts or to resolve environmental engineering problems toward mutual goals.

11. Radioactive Worker 1 or 2, OSHA 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER training, DOT Advanced MLLW Certification (minimum), RCRA general awareness (minimum). Company training can be provided for these requirements as needed.
